How much should I feed my chihuahua?
How much food should I give my chihuahua?
Figuring out how much to feed your chihuahua is somewhat of an art form. First, it’s important to buy high quality HUMAN-GRADE dog food. Start with the amount recommended by your brand of dog food, according to your chihuahua’s weight. Then adjust the amount based on how much she’s finishing. If she eats everything in one sitting and still seems to be searching for food all day, then feed her more, BUT only if she’s not overweight. If you notice she’s putting on weight, then cut back on some of her food. With chihuahuas, adjusting could mean a matter of a few kibbles. If you have an overweight dog, it’s better to feed a smaller amount of a high quality dog food, rather than giving her diet food, which has a lot of fillers and not as much nutrients. If you have a normal-weight dog who knows to stop eating when she’s full, then leave out as much dog food for her as she can finish in a day.

Natalie :
I’ve had my chihuahua for about 3 months already. Her name is Tequila and she’s a beautiful black purebred. She’s about 5 months now and she recently changed her hair texture. I realize the food i give her is really helping her. I feed her Royal Canine for small breeds. Its an excellent chi food brand that Tequila devours. Her hair texture is really shiny and she looks extra healthy.

All the web sites tell me what to feed and how often but not the amount each feeding. I cannot leave food out because of other dogs. Royal Canin says for a 12 week puppy 1/4 cup but is that at each feeding or daily?
