Hi Cindy. I am new to this site and I thought since you have been a chihuahua owner for 10 years that you may be able to help me with a question I have. I just became the owner of a 14 week old Chihuahua that weighs approx. 3 lbs..and is VERY cute and sweet..he has became my baby. LoL. But I have noticed some dry skin and some white flakes in his hair. I think this is dandruff and really I don’t know what to do for him. I feed him only Science Diet (Dry Food) which doesnt have a lot of oil in it? Could that be a problem? I havent bathed him once since I have had him, all I’ve done is dampened a cloth and then dried him and brushed his hair afterwards. I brushed his hair thinking the flakes would get better but they showed up more. What could I do? Any help and or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I just got a chihuahua and I have no history on this dog. my concern is that she is a picky eater and am not sure what to feed her with. The past family was giving her table food because they could not afford dog food. I brought her Alpo dog food and she is not eating it. I gave her some homemade chicken and she just barely eats a little. She is sniffing around the house so I feel she is hungry. This moring I gave her some brown rice, she just ate a few grains. What do I do? Is it natural for this size dog to only eat a teaspoon full of food. Help. What is the best vitamin to purchase for her.

My husband and I recently got a long-haired Chihuahua. We really love him. He is so cute and he is such a good dog but he keeps chewing on his feet. He chews on them very hard and I don’t know if this is normal or not. Is this something that they do or is there something I can do to his paws or something I can put on his paws to stop him from doing this?

A lot of people have been asking me this question, and since a picture is worth a thousand words, I decided a video is probably worth a million words. So here’s my inaugural video for YourChihuahua.com on “how to cut your chihuahua’s nails.” Let me know what you think and what other topics you’d like to see in videos.

My chihuahua is almost 2 years old. He developed brown spots on his skin, but they seem to have appeared over night. He is a fawn color, but these spots are on his skin, back, and tummy. He doesn’t act like he is itching or anything. Do you think that he is ok?

True or False:
Small and toy breed dogs take longer for their soft spots to close?
My breeder says because the puppy’s soft spot hasn’t closed that there is a chance for seizures, temporary blindness, etc for the first year. Is this just typical for small breeds, or is something really wrong with this puppy?

My chihuahua is constantly scratching all over her body, sometimes she rolls around on the carpet to scratch her back. She chews her paws and parts of her legs to the point where she has bald spots from scratching so much. I don’t know what she’s allergic to. I feel so bad for her, what can I do?
