I just picked up a little girl chi last night. She’s gorgeous at 6 months. However, she is new to me and she is really having a lot of difficulties with adjusting. She is hiding and won’t let me near her to even pet her. She seems scared to death right now. She had already bonded to her original owner, and I’m scared that she won’t adjust at all. Do you know any tricks of the trade in helping her to adjust to our home? More on My new puppy is scared. How can I help her adjust?

My dog was a gift from a friend. She is 16 months old and to my knowledge never been trained to obey. She is a precious 6# 6oz bundle of joy.I am trying to train her to pee and poop outside. She does some time but goes in the house sometimes.I would appreciate some good information as what is the best method to use with her.She has a mind of her own but minds some too.I really love her. My chihuahua goes to the bathroom and then steps in it. I drive my fiancee to work in the morning and leave her in the bathroom to do her business. I am only gone for about 45 minutes, so I thought what could be the worst thing that could happen. Well I came home and she had stepped in her poo and pee and was jumping all over my bathroom. There was poop everywhere, on my floor, toilet,walls and vanity. I couldn’t believe it she was running in it and she thought it was great. She is only 5 months old so i hope she grows out of it. Is that normal and how can I break the habit? We trained her to go on her pads which she is still learning, but she seems so excited after she just steps in it and not just once.

My husband and I work all day and we don’t want our schedules to dictate when our chihuahua goes to the bathroom. We would like to train her to use a wee wee pad or newspaper. Is it hard to paper train chihuahuas? What’s the best way to do that?
